I have been inspired by Tehching (Sam) Hsieh, a Taiwanese artist who said that “Life is a life-long imprisonment.” Body is a prison, time is a prison, and breathing is the survival mechanism required in carcerality. Our mind is the only escape tool in our life. A human isolated in a space and time. How does he or she maintain a belief system? I undertook an experiment by using my own body to experience time, space and the state of mind in a situation of isolation. I attempted to understand or rebuild the relationship and equilibrium between time, mind and body.
I am not interested in live performance and video technology, but I am interested in what performance in video to generate a new language to interpret life, inner feelings and quality of time.
Time cannot be speed up or slowed down in real life but our mind can experience time in a faster or slower pace. Mind surmounts the limitations of body, time and space, but the expression of our thoughts has to come through such limitations.
